Table of Contents

Hey everyone, I am promoting a giveaway that Bend Soap Company has going on. You may have heard of them from a blog post that I recently posted. If not you can read it here.

ABOUT BEND SOAP COMPANY

Bend Soap Company is a family owned business that makes natural, non-toxic, organic bath products with goat milk. Their products are amazing and I wouldn’t use anything else. From their lip butters to their soaps and lotion, all of their products are good quality and perfect for every skin type and skin condition. I suffer of eczema and these soaps are the only ones that don’t make my skin break out. Not just that, my skin is also soft, hydrated, and feel nourished unlike with other soaps that dry my skin and irritate it. I love to use their products all the time, especially for a refreshing morning routine.

ABOUT THE GIVEAWAY

The giveaway is being hosted by Bend Soap Company. Their goal is to help encourage and inspire others to make a change in their homes and lifestyle. Through education we can learn the dangers of some of the detergents, chemicals, and even hygiene items that we use on a daily basis. By making the switch to a #cleanliving and #tossingthetoxins we can live a healthier and cleaner lifestyle. Below are some resources that will help educate others on some of these chemicals and health dangers that are in some of the products in your home.

RESOURCES

These are just a few of the MANY resources out there. You would be so surprised by the things that our government allows to be consumed and used in “small” amounts regardless of the dangers.

TWM CHANGES TO #CLEANLIVING

I have been slowly changing things in our home. So far I have changed our laundry detergent, dish washing detergent, soaps, lip butter, lotions, and toothpaste. However, I am not where I want to be at in our #cleanliving mission. Here’s a few other things I will be changing in our home within the next few weeks.

Here is a blog post by Bend Soap Company that will go over some harmful ingredients to watch out for.

Deodorant

I want to switch my aluminum loaded deodorant to a natural organic deodorant. I want to try Bend Soap’s all natural deodorant. You can get yours here. Aluminum in deodorants have been linked to breast cancer and Alzheimer’s. In case you didn’t know how your anti-perspirant works, here is how. When you apply your deodorant, what it does is that it clogs the pores in the application area causing that area to not perspirate. You are clogging them pores with aluminum based deodorant. Read more about the dangers of aluminum in your home here.

Back in 2009 I had my blood checked under a microscope by a holistic natural doctor. He is one of the best in Puerto Rico. In my blood we saw aluminum. Not just small amounts but enough to detect it in numerous locations in that single drop of blood. Another reason as to why I had aluminum show up in my blood was because of my cavity fillings. They contain aluminum as well but its a little harder to detect in the blood from my understanding.

Bathroom cleaning items

I am finishing up the bottles I currently have which are Scrubbing Bubble. I seriously hate using them because they have such a strong smell to them making it difficult to breathe at times. It also irritates my skin and dries it to the point that it hurts. I want to try something new to clean my bathroom. Any suggestions?

Make-up

I don’t use much make-up to be honest. Most powders and foundations cause my allergies to go crazy and we all know that watery eyes and make-up don’t mix too well. I look like a clown half of the time I wear make-up. I do want to change it for a better product though once I finish the ones I currently have. Something that is not tested on animals, has natural ingredients that won’t cause me to break out or my allergies to go crazy, and is still good quality. Any suggestions?

Mosquito repellent candles

I want to change all of our bug repellent candles to a more natural option like this one. I posted a resource above explaining why some ingredients in our candles are not good for us. Even switching your home candles can be a good option. Most store brand candles contain chemicals that you shouldn’t be breathing, especially in a closed environment such as your home. Other options for candles for your home are soy candles that are composed or natural ingredients. Soy also lasts much longer than most store brand candles meaning you don’t have to buy candles as often. You can also do homemade potpurri with essential oils and natural items. Pinterest has loads of recipes for potpurri.

Bug repellent

We use a lot of bug repellent on our trips but always seem to get the worse options for us to use. I want to switch to Repel which is a better and more natural alternative to most bug repellents.

Dental Floss

Did you know that most nylon dental floss are not biodegradable? They are also very limited as to what they clean in between your teeth. Therefore the best option for you to use for flossing is coconut fibers. Yes! I love coconut and it has so many amazing uses to it. One of them is flossing your teeth so if you are ever stranded on an island now you know how to keep them teeth shinning bright. The coconut fibers really scrub in between your teeth getting all that residue out that your toothbrush can’t reach rather than nylon or those cheap store brands. Best of all, these flosses are biodegradable. I am currently finishing the nylon floss I have. We are on our last container finally to then purchase this one.

Dryer Sheets

This is a waste of money in my opinion. It hels with the static with your close but for the most part it’s one sheet and then off to the trash. There is a much better option though. You can use a reusable wool balls. They are not just environmentally friendly but they dry your clothes faster by absorbing the moisture better and also cutting down on your drying time meaning saving money on electricity. It’s a win win!!!

Menstrual Products

Did you know that women use over 12,000 tampons and/or pads in their lifetime? Worse of all, each pad and tampon takes anything from 500-800 years to biodegrade! This means that that very first tampon or pad that you used is still lingering around by the time you are in your senior years. How gross! There are new products out there and other options for women to use now a days. There are cloth pads, cotton based tampons and pads that biodegrade much faster and have no harmful chemicals, and even menstrual cups.

Most store brand pads and tampons that the majority of women use have chemicals in them that have been linked to cervical cancer. Sadly they don’t have to tell you what chemicals and ingredients they put into their products so most women go all their life without knowing what they are using and the harms it can cause them. Every item is made differently so if I were you I would go to their website and do some research. Don’t be afraid of sending an email out to the company. It is your right to know what your are using and to be concerned. Here is an excellent resource on this topic.

Some of the best menstrual cups are:
