Last week we had the opportunity to take a drive to Tarpon Springs. We walked through The Sponge Docks and all of the cute little shops they had there. I have to tell you that I loved the good vibes throughout the entire Tarpon Springs. There were so many cute shops and several with lots of handmade items from locals around the surrounding areas in Florida.
Touring Tarpon Springs
My husband wanted to go to Tarpon Springs and I couldn’t resist. I’ve heard of Tarpon Springs’ Sponge Docks but never visited before so I obviously didn’t decline to the idea. I mean, who wouldn’t want to visit a new place right?
The Sponge Factory
We arrived to Tarpon Springs and parked over by The Sponge Factory. They have a really nice mural on the side of their building. This was the first shop we entered. They had so many different types of sponges, seashells, and even handmade organic soaps. Their shop is absolutely cute and all local. Definitely check them out.
Afterwards we continued to walk through the rest of the shops down the street heading down to the Historic Sponge Docks and back. We saw so many cute items, Greek restaurants, and even saw a man sorting out a boat load of sponges. Some of these sponges were huge too (first picture on this post).
Lunch at Dimitri’s On The Water
We ended up going to Dimitri’s On The Water to grab some lunch before heading out to our next stop. I was the odd ball to grab a cheeseburger at a Greek restaurant. I was craving a good cheeseburger though and it was so good. No regrets there.
Beach Vibes At Fred Howard Park
After lunch we headed back to our car and decided to check out a nearby beach park called Fred Howard Park. The drive here was beautiful and the park was too. It was a perfect spot to go to for an afternoon swim. We hung up our hammock, let the girls play in the sand and water and just chilled. It was so relaxing.
After our perfect ending at the beach we decided to head back home. Can’t wait to come back again to Tarpon Springs.
