2016 is a day away and I know I’m not the only one thinking of their New Years Resolution. I have tons on my list and I’m sure you do too. We always make these list and say that this is the year that we will stick to it. The year that we will do everything on that list in hopes of a better year full of achievements and and success. It’s funny cause the majority of the people that make a list end up breaking it by January 25th (Heard it on the radio today). Well here’s my list for this year. I’m sure there’s a few on here that you may have on your list as well. But first lets grab a big cup of coffee. *Cheers* (Affiliate links below)
I have a huge sweet tooth and chocolate is my weakness. Chocolate cake, chocolate candy, oreos, and lately coke as well. I need more fruits and veggies in my diets and to cut back on all my sweet sweet cravings.
2. Loosing weight and toning weight.
I guess this one goes with the first one. To loose weight and get back in shape you need to have a healthy lifestyle. You can’t really have one without the other. I want to go out and buy myself a very cute outfit in a size and make it my goal to fit in it perfectly. I also want to make it my goal to have my waist measure around the same it did when I was in high school 9 years ago. (Wow! I can’t believe I’ve been out of high school for 9 years.) I’m not the one to talk to religion but this is one of my goals for this year. I want to change who I am and be a better person over all and I can’t do that if I don’t have God by my side. Everyone is different so I don’t judge but as for me, this is something that I would like.
4. Be debt free.
I won’t be completely debt free like we own a home and have a mortgage to pay but I would like to have all of my credit cards and most of my small loans paid off. It’s not a lot but every little bit here and there adds up.
5. Learn to manage our finances better and grow our savings plan.
A wise man once told me to never buy anything on credit if I can’t pay it off right away. That wise man was my dad, also my mom, and also my grandfather. I should have listened. You never realize how quick $20 here or $40 there can add up. I want to learn how to manage our finances better and also start putting more money in our savings, even if it’s just $5. I want to put something in our savings every paycheck.
6. College – Veterinary Technology
I would like to complete my first and second semester in this year and hopefully have started on my third. I recently started college in Penn Foster and it hasn’t been easy to do a study-at-your-pace/online college curriculum. It’s been a huge learning experience and so I’ve struggled to learn how to juggle college, Etsy, blogging, and my family all at the same time, every day.
7. Organization on a daily basis.
This kind of goes hand in hand with college. In order for me to fulfill my goal I have to be more organized. That is using a planner and sticking with it. Writing everything down and making time for everything that I have to do. I can’t really expect to accomplish my goals by being unorganized and all over the place.
With kids your home always looks like chaos. Mothers with spotless homes please tell me your secret. I can’t seem to a way to keep my home spotless. I clean one room and the next one is a disaster. Well I recently read a blog post I found on Pinterest on how to keep your home more clean and organized and on how to create certain habits on doing so so I’m going to give it a shot and hope for the very best. 9. Learn to meal plan ahead
I hate grocery shopping especially when I don’t even know what to cook for the next two weeks. Yes I do groceries for two weeks. I hate it so much that I rather get everything I need at once rather then make several trips for a few things here and there throughout the week. I would like to start meal planning. In other words I want to make a calendar and post it on my fridge and right down what we are eating every day of the week for that week. For example: Tuesday will be Taco Tuesday, Friday’s will be sandwich day, Saturday will be Italian so some kind of pasta dish (lasagna, spaghetti’s, etc.), and so on. I think doing this will make my days go better and put less stress on my plate.
10. Start being a morning person.
Uff!!! This is going to be the hardest one I think. I love to sleep in and wake up at 9 or even 10 every morning so this is going to be rough for a few days… weeks, but once I get myself into the routine of waking up early I’m sure I’ll be good to go.
My 3 year old can truly test my parenting skills. She’s stubborn and hates cleaning. She’s in that stage where she keeps testing her luck and pushing her limits to see how far I let her slide. I don’t want to be strict but I want to try new parenting skills so I’ll be doing a lot of research and trying new things out to see what works best for my precious stubborn little one.
This is a very important one on my list. Goes side by side with my relationship with God and with Parenting. My marriage has been a little shaky lately. I mean what marriage hasn’t had their ups and downs. I mean if you’re marriage is perfect and you have been married for more then 4 years happily without any bumps on the road please do share with me your secret. I would like to work on a few things with my husband to help strengthen our relationship but in order for our marriage to be stronger and our love continue to grow we have to be best friends, a team, as well as put God first above all. If He is in charge of our marriage and we put our problems in His hands together I’m sure many bumps can be avoided. It’s a hard one but yet a very important one. By the end of the year I want my husband and I to be so happily married and in love just like we were when we first met… if not more.
I’ve struggled with this one for a quiet a while now. After my last c-section I’ve gained weight and now I’m constantly feeling like I’m ugly and fat. My husband says otherwise but in my eyes I see a pouch of fat that won’t go away. I guess this one may go hand in hand with the getting in shape one. Working out does give you a sense of pride and self confidence so I’m hoping that doing so I will be able to fulfill this resolution.
14. Grow my Etsy shop
This year I had a total of 75 sales on Etsy. That’s not including all the other sales I made with family, friends, craft fairs, on social media pages, etc. I would like to make double if not triple that in 2016. (Click below to visit my Etsy shop.)
I’ve only been blogging for a few months. Not long at all. I would like to grow my blog more and get more unique visitors to my blog. I also want to post a blog post at least 2-3 times a week. By the end of the year I should have at least 104 new blog posts. Wish me luck!
16. Travel and Explore
I would like to travel and explore more of Oahu and the other surrounding islands. Do more hikes and adventuring. Try new things like zip lining, surfing, scuba diving, etc. I’m really looking forward to doing this one cause it just sounds fun all together. 17. Visit my family in October and make it for my sis-in-laws wedding day.
This is a must must must for this year. It’s not every day I get to see my sister get married to the man of her dreams. I can’t miss this wedding for anything in the world. 🙂
How do I plan on sticking to my New Years Resolution you ask? Well here’s how…
I plan on making a Pinterest board. (Follow us on Pinterest. Check the sidebar to view it) One to help me stay motivated. I have mines secret but on there I have articles or even just pins to help keep me motivated. I have a few on how to keep your home clean and a few others on parenting tips, even things to explore around Oahu and a few hikes. You can even do several boards. One for each of your New Year’s Resolution and just name it New Years 2016 – and what your resolution is such as New Years 2016 – Grow My Blog. Every time I feel unmotivated I will look back at this/these board/s and remind myself of what my goals are. I will also go back to this blog post to help keep me going. Now not everyone has a blog post about their New Years Resolution but you can write down your list on the Notes part of your planner for that year and that way you can always go back to that page to remind yourself of what your goals are. You can even push yourself even further by setting goals on your planner such as, by September I want to have so much money in savings or by this date I want to weigh this much or be this pant size again. Heck, you can even make a board on Pinterest with some very cute outfits that will help keep you motivated to looking good to wear them. Or even of some celebrities or models that you would like to look like. For example I want Jessica Alba’s abs with J-Lo’s booty but lets be realistic now. These are for motivation. I will never have J-Lo’s perfectly rounded big booty but at least I can try right. Motivation is key to keep you going with your list and actually stick with it.
