Owning your own jewelry shop comes with it’s pros and cons. Working with new materials and trying to find styles and ideas is a constant work in progress. Always trying to flow with the fashion trend to stay on top of things. Figuring out how to manage your finances and how to build your own website. It’s hard work but it also builds a sense of pride when the final product is finished.
My favorite part is planning. I love taking some time to just sit down with a cup of coffee, my planner, and all my colored pens and start planning my month away. I usually color code everything in my planner so that way I know what to do each day. Like school reminders will be in purple and shop reminders are pink. Doctor appointments are in red. I feel like color coding everything just makes it easier for me to find it in the future and stay more organized… plus its fun to see a colorful planner every day.
If I had a boss I would most likely be stuck doing things they wanted me to do, working hourly, and having to pay for daycare, meaning spending hours each day away from my husband, daughters, and pups but being my own boss means having a flexible schedule and being able to work around your own “stay at home mom” schedule which is great. Plus no having to pay for day care which is a big plus for seeing how expensive day care can come out to be. If you have an awesome crafty idea or have a crafty hobby and want to make some money then I highly recommend trying to sell your items. I started out with friends a family and then through my Facebook and Instagram page and now I have my own Etsy shop. Go for it. Determination is always key!
